How to make an Espresso
(using a Mokka pot)
(using a Mokka pot)
We were asked to create, direct, and voice an explanatory video for our first-year final motion project. The goal was to guide our audience through a process from start to finish. My coffee machine had just broken, and Sabrina Carpenter dropped her hit single Espresso that same month, so naturally, I chose to animate the process of using a Moka pot to make an at-home espresso.
All imagery and assets were created by me in Adobe Illustrator, re-creating well-known Italian design pieces like the Bialetti Moka pot and the Alessi Kettle to help tell the story.
Rotoscope

I used Procreate's animation feature to trace my chosen video and experimented with form and unique perspective angles to capture the look and feel of the character's walk.
3D Animation
Using 3D can objects in Cinemad 4D, I created a lifelike video mockup of these original beer can designs.
Character Walking Cycle
I used an original character called Sun Man for this project. The goal was to learn how to create a walking flow that feels seamless and natural. Utilizing techniques to anchor objects and parent them to each other to create a fully articulated puppet without assisted tools. Understanding form and animated walking sequences.
